The 1 oz Silver Mandela Robben Island Medallion.
Robben Island, whose prison was once home to former South African president Nelson Mandela as well as many other black political freedom fighters, is now a world heritage site and provides stunning views across Cape Town’s bay with table mountain as its backdrop.
This much anticipated addition to the series features both Mandela and Robben Island on the same Medallion. It is proof quality, a troy ounce of Silver (.925 Ag) and 39mm in diameter.
The face of the medallion has Nelson Mandela’s bust on it. The other side pictures the profile of Table Mountain overlooking an aerial view of Robben Island. It has the words “ROBBEN ISLAND” and the dates 1964-1982 commemorating Nelson Mandela’s tenure of imprisonment on the island. It comes packaged in a green cardboard presentation pack.
These medallions are minted by the mint of Norway.
